Iveco to demo vocational vehicles on expo Test Track

An Iveco ACCO with Bucher Gen V Series II side loader unit
The latest Iveco Australia models for waste industry applications will be in the spotlight at the Waste Management In Action expo in Melbourne next month.

Visistors to the expo, part of the well-established International Truck Trailer and Equipment Show, are encouraged to attend Iveco’s Test Track sessions, where it is set to run its recently-revamped Acco 6×4 featuring Bucher Municipal’s latest side loader unit and a Daily 20m3 van.

The Australian truck manufacturer’s display will include the latest version of the proven ACCO range, represented by a 4×2 and two 6×4 models, while making its show debut will be the new Stralis 8×4 Clear Back of Cab (CBOC) model, which was released late last year.

The Stralis cab chassis, which provides an ideal platform for fitment of hooklift bodies, will be fitted with a Multilift XR26Z hooklift with 26-tonne capacity for the event.

The first of the ACCOs on show, the 4×2, is equipped with a Hiab Multilift Futura new generation skiploader. The Futura offers a number of new innovations, including lightweight, high strength steel construction for increased payload, and newly-released operator control and safety features.

Of the remaining two ACCOs, one is a compactor unit that will be operated by Solo Resource Recovery on a contract with Manningham Council in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs.

The third ACCO 6×4 will be demonstrated in the ‘Test Track’ arena, where show-goers can not only see the vehicle operating but, by invitation, also drive and operate the truck if they hold the correct licence.

This ACCO is fitted with a new Bucher Municipal compact design Gen V Series II side loader, developed to provide greater access and manoeuvrability in tighter urban areas while still providing a generous payload – the display model provides over 10 tonnes.

Also featuring in the arena will be a 20m³ 50C Daily van.

The Test Track times for Iveco’s vehicles will be 10.30am, 1.30pm and 3.30pm on the Thursday and Friday, and 1.00pm, 2.00pm and 3.00pm on the Saturday.

Iveco Australia Marketing Manager, Darren Swenson, said that Iveco had a strong heritage in refuse collection applications and that Waste Management In Action provided an excellent opportunity to showcase Iveco’s latest offerings in this industry.

“The ACCO range is an industry standard in the waste collection sector given its bullet-proof driveline, low whole of life costing and fit-for-task construction,” Mr Swenson.

“And now the latest Stralis range – particularly the CBOC models – build on Iveco’s ability to offer a high quality range of commercial vehicles for use in this important sector.

“Not to be forgotten, the Daily van line-up has abundant safety features, and a market-leading 8-speed full automatic transmission and a car-like driving experience.”

The Waste Management In Action expo will be held at the Melbourne Showgrounds from 5 to 7 May.
