SA Allows Industry More Time On Consultation

The South Australian Environment Protection Authority (EPA SA) is allowing key industry players more time to respond to its consultation on waste management reforms.

The EPA SA consultation on its draft paper Reforming Waste Management – creating certainty for an industry to grow officially closed to the public on 2 October.

However, the authority has allowed several industry organisations more time to compile and submit their responses. As such, the consultation period looks likely to be extended to mid November, with action on the submissions expected in the first quarter of 2016.

In addition to using the online response forum, SA residents had several opportunities to share their feedback on the proposed reforms through a series of community events, which were held across the state in September.

Views and submissions received during the consultation process, and the options and questions presented in the discussion paper will be reviewed by government, along with resourcing considerations, to determine the options to be pursued for the reform program.
