Deadline looms for litter fund bids

It’s the last chance for businesses to submit applications for Round 2 of the Victorian Litter Innovation Fund.

The deadline for submissions to obtain grants from the Fund is 3.00pm on Monday 3 October.

The Fund offers grants for solutions to illegal tipping and littering. It allows eligible organisations – such as government, not-for-profit groups, social enterprises and schools – to apply for grants of up to $20,000 for innovative ways to tackle loose rubbish and dumping issues delivered through a partnership approach.

To be eligible for funding, applicants must have registered for TAKE2 – Victoria’s climate change pledge program. Also, projects must have at least three or more of seven elements of the Victorian Litter Action Alliance (VLAA) best practice model for litter prevention.

Fund details
The Fund forms part of the Victorian Litter Plan, a $1 million financial package to deliver on activities in the Victorian Waste Education Strategy. The Plan comprises four programs: the Fund, the Victoria’s Litter Report CardInterventions to address Victoria’s priority statewide litter issues and the Litter Hotspots Program (Round 3), which the Metropolitan Waste and Resource Recovery Group leads.

The second round of the Fund incorporates a two-stage competitive, merit-based application process. The first stage requires Expressions of Interest (EOI) to be submitted by 3.00pm on 3 October. At stage two, shortlisted projects from the EOI process will be invited to submit a full application by 3.00pm on 5 December.

More information about the Fund and the applications process is detailed on the Sustainability Victoria website.
