Recycling and waste equipment specialist Wastech Engineering secured two prizes at a regional awards ceremony last week.

The Dandenong-based company won the Business of the Year and Manufacturer of the Year categories at the Casey Cardinia Business Awards 2015 on Thursday night (22 October).

The company said the awards recognise the work of the founders and owners, Paul and Neil Bone, and CEO Brett Jones, who have been driving its new vision forward and increasing the focus on people and customer service.

Wastech recently acquired the Field Services and Tail Lift divisions of Tieman Industries. This has seen it expand into materials handling and take on 60 service vehicles and six service centres across Australia, putting it in a position to provide a complete aftersales and “total solutiions” service offering to customers.

Over the past year, Wastech has consolidated its position in the marketplace with major projects in Australia and overseas. The latest project being a large custom waste solution being installed Saudi Arabia in the next few months.

Brett Jones credits the success to the dedication and determination of its employees.

“This is a business where we have not lost sight of our origins, we maintain the values and energy that created this company at the core of what we do,” he said. “Everyone is focused on striving for excellence and being awarded Business of the Year is an honour for all of us.”
