Women Of Waste Discuss Indigenous Community Issues

WMAA Women of Waste event
More than 40 of the industry’s female professionals gathered in Burwood recently for the annual WMAA Women of Waste event.

The event, held by the NSW Young Professionals, recognises and showcases women who hold flagship positions within the waste industry.

This year, the focus was on waste management in indigenous communities. Speakers highlighted the work of Waste Aid and young indigenous community leaders, who industry experts help to improve waste management outcomes in Bourke, NSW.

Constance Chatfield, Aboriginal Liaison Officer, Local Government NSW; Val Southam, Waste Aid; and Daniela Santucci, Manager Resource Recovery, Bankstown City Council, all delivered presentations at the event.
