$5M funding awarded to six VIC resource recovery projects

$5M funding awarded to six VIC recycling and renumeration projects

$5.73 million has been awarded to six Victorian projects by Sustainability Victoria, to build new recycling and remanufacturing facilities, as well as upgrade existing facilities across the state.

The financial support is thanks to Sustainability Victoria’s Recycling Victoria Infrastructure Fund – Materials program, which aims to increase the capacity and capability of Victoria’s resource recovery sector.

The projects will process up to 20,000 tonnes of glass, 289,500 tonnes of organics and 40,000 tonnes of textiles every year. They will also improve the quality of 146,000 tonnes of organic material and 5,000 tonnes of glass every year.

This processing will allow councils and the industry to reuse materials in agriculture; constructing new roads; manufacturing soundproofing material, insulation material, carpets, and blankets.

The projects will leverage $24.4 million of industry investment in Victoria’s recycling infrastructure and create more than 75 new jobs for the state.

The six successful applicants include Pinegro Products Pty Ltd ($2 million), Van Schaik’s Bio Gro Pty Ltd (for two projects, which includes funding of $1,669,500 and $600,790), Citywide Service Solutions Pty Ltd ($582,400), Textile Innovations Australia ($500,000) and the Rural City of Wangaratta ($381,000).

The projects are funded through the Recycling Victoria Infrastructure Fund, which is part of the Victorian Government’s $515 million investment to support the state’s waste and recycling sector.
