Clean Up Australia Day is on this Sunday, 6 March, as the event celebrates its 32nd year of tackling Australia’s waste challenges.
The day is the largest community-based environment event and encourages councils, schools, businesses and youth groups to collect litter and protect the environment.
Clean Up Australia Day also provides educational programs, to enable participants to have a greater understanding on the impact litter can have on the environment.
Groups can register a Clean Up site to host a clean-up event in their own local area. Once registered, participants will receive a ‘Clean Up kit’, which includes rubbish bags and gloves.
This year a tally will be created for the collection of face-masks and other litter items.
To date, more than 19 million Australians have donated their time as part of Clean Up Australia activities over the last 30 years
