The Australasian Waste & Recycling Expo (AWRE) is returning to Sydney from 24-25 August 2022.

AWRE 2022 will include a range of new and established features and events, as well as a substantial seminar program of panels, presentations and case studies.

Featured speakers will include Nicole Garofano, Head of Circular Economy Development at Planet Ark; Nerida Kelton, Executive Director for the Australian Institute of Packing (AIP); and Veena Sahajwalla, Scientia Professor at the Centre for Sustainable Materials Research & Technology, The University of New South Wales (UNSW).

The all-new Resource Recovery Summit “Getting to 80%” will run on the morning of 24 August, hosted by the National Waste and Recycling Industry Council (NWRIC), the Waste Contractors and Recyclers Association of NSW (WCRA), and major partner NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA).

The half-day summit will focus on municipal solid waste, commercial and industrial, and construction and demolition waste.

“The summit is a new initiative that brings together business and government leaders to explore the latest developments, challenges and opportunities facing the waste and resource recovery industry in Australia,” a NWRIC spokesperson said.

A new feature for the AWRE 2022 exhibition floor, the Recycled Zone, will showcase innovations in packaging products and material made from recycled or repurposed matter.

Another new area, the Innovation Zone will focus on new solutions to some of Australia’s biggest waste management challenges, highlighting innovations such as software management, waste-to-energy, and robotic recyclers and trash cans.

The Australian Organics Recycling Association (AORA) is bringing its AORA Organic Zone back to the conference.  The dedicated area will highlight the growing importance of the organics recycling sector, presenting the latest innovations and technology in organics and food waste management.
