Bin Trim App launched to support business recycling

Bin Trim App - recycling - business - progress

Councils, waste service providers, consultants and industry groups can now access the Bin Trim App, which aims to help businesses reduce waste and increase levels of recycling.

Users can access waste data from a variety of industry sectors and locations. The app can also generate high level data for the volume and weight of waste in local government areas.

Progress can be tracked through graphs and charts on the app itself. The application also allows for the creation of easy action plans to reduce waste, depending on the type of waste and the amount.

Waste information on the app is derived from 36,000 businesses, who make up the Bin Trim App database.

New South Wales EPA Executive Director Liesbet Spanjaard said the app will help to promote sustainable business practices across multiple industries.

“Councils and industry can use the Bin Trim App to engage with their clients, prepare waste assessments and tailor waste advice to their needs,” Spanjaard said.

“Users can access industry-specific data and tailored waste reduction action plans to help the businesses they are working with.”

The NSW Government has awarded $21.73 million to 91 grantees who will work with over 37,589 businesses through the app.
