Western Australia’s Department of Environmental Regulation (DER) has opened a new consultation on its revised draft Environmental Standard: Composting.
The new version is an update of the first draft Environmental Standard: Composting (draft ES), which was released for public consultation last June. Due to the significant changes being introduced to this original document to address feedback from submissions and stakeholder working groups, DER has published the Draft ES for a further round of public consultation.
After the release of the June 2015 draft ES, DER held four workshops with the stakeholder working group between September and November last year. The public consultation period for the June 2015 Draft ES closed on 30 November, with 15 submissions received.
Between November 2015 and this February, DER then liaised and obtained technical input from the Department of Water and the Department of Agriculture and Food, Western Australia.
After considering the issues raised by the public and stakeholder organisations, the DER has produced a revised Draft ES, with the changes and submissions received on the previous draft summarised in the Consultation Paper.
The consultation closes on 6 June.
