The opening day of Waste Expo Australia proved to be an inspiring showcase of innovation and collaboration for the waste, recycling, and resource recovery sector.
Attendees reported high energy levels as the industry converged to explore solutions and set ambitious future targets.
A highlight was the keynote address delivered by Danish Ambassador Ingrid Dahl-Madsen. The Ambassador shared Denmark’s vision of achieving 100 per cent carbon neutrality by 2027, outlining the policies and collaborative models that could inspire Australia toward its own net-zero goals.
Dahl-Madsen’s address set a high standard for sustainability for the two-day event. Other sessions that drew crowds included a deep dive into the future of Victoria’s Container Deposit Scheme, solutions for end-of-life solar panels and what’s next in Australia’s energy-from-waste journey.
The Expo floor was a hub of activity, featuring more than 110 solution providers showcasing the latest cutting-edge technologies that are driving modern resource recovery, from advanced sorting systems to new diversion infrastructure.
A networking event rounded off the day, providing attendees with a chance to connect, collaborate, and celebrate.
The expo continues today with another jam-packed program with a focus on the circular economy and the future of landfills.
