Applications for Climate Change Community Action Grants will close soon, with the Mornington Peninsula Shire encouraging residents to apply.
The climate grants were introduced this year, as a pilot program to foster behaviour change and reduce carbon emissions.
The pilot program follows the shire’s commitment to achieving net zero emissions by 2040.
The program will fund non-for-profit community groups, charities, schools, business associations and small businesses on the Mornington Peninsula who will contribute to the area’s climate emergency goals.
The program will offer $1000 to $5000 for smaller projects and up to $10,000 for larger projects.
Examples of eligible projects include projects that increase the resilience of the area’s natural environment, or a trial of innovative technology reducing carbon emissions and support local industries and businesses.
Applications for the Climate Change Community Action Grants close 5pm Wednesday 4 August 2021.
