Nominations are now open for the 2022 WasteSorted Awards, which celebrates local waste champions making positive change in Western Australia.
Each year, the WasteSorted Awards acknowledge innovative solutions to reduce waste and meet the reuse and recycling targets in Western Australia’s Waste Strategy.
Individuals, business and industry, government, schools, community organisations, not-for-profits and media outlets are able to apply for the awards.
The 2022 awards consist of ten categories, which includes the Community Waste Award, Commercial and Industrial Waste Award, Waste Management Award, Regional Waste Award, Waste Champion, Local Government Award (new), Waste Team of the Year, Waste Innovation of the Year, WasteSorted School Award; and Waste Avoidance (Events) Award (new).
Environment Minister Reece Whitby said the awards presented an opportunity to acknowledge pioneers throughout the state.
“Western Australians that create innovative ways to reduce, reuse and recycle their waste should be congratulated,” Whitby said.
“The WasteSorted Awards highlight Western Australia’s waste champions and the work being achieved in waste reduction.”
Nominations for the 2022 WasteSorted Awards are now open and will close at 5pm (WST) on Monday February 14, 2022. Winners will be announced at a gala dinner award ceremony in May 2022.
