Product Stewardship webinar

product stewardship

The Product Stewardship Centre of Excellence is exploring local government and product stewardship in its first webinar of 2022.

To be held on Thursday, 24 March from 3-4pm (AEST), the free webinar will be of interest to existing and emerging industry-led product stewardship initiatives/schemes and local councils looking to learn about the role local government can play in product stewardship.

Rebecca Brown, Manager Waste and Recycling – Western Australia Local Government Association (WALGA) and Dominque Doyle, Chief Executive Officer Agsafe, (responsible for drumMUSTER and ChemClear) will discuss what makes a strong positive relationship between product stewardship initiative and local councils.

They will talk about how to get there and what to avoid through lived experience and operational insights, including the different mechanisms that can effectively shift the responsibility upstream away from councils while still maintaining their participation.

Brown started at WALGA in 2003 and has held her current role since 2007. She has been involved in the development of various product stewardship schemes and their implementation in WA with a focus on local government participation. She understands the significance and benefit of well-designed stewardship initiatives that meet the everyday waste reduction and recycling  needs of householders.

Doyle has a detailed understanding of the AgVet chemical industry, particularly regarding the supply chain and reseller markets, and has been transforming Agsafe’s operations since 2018.  Doyle’s understanding of the importance of maintaining sustainable operations, as well as meeting diverse stakeholder expectations, has strengthened Agsafe’s stewardship programs: drumMUSTER, ChemClear.
