Up to 1.2 tonnes of cardboard and 24 cubic metres of polystyrene was diverted from landfill at a Camden Council Recycling Drop Off event.

The quarterly event returned to New South Wales this month after a brief hiatus due to COVID-19 lockdowns.

Unwanted items recycled by residents at the drop-off event included bulky cardboard, paper, plastic bottles and containers, glass bottles, cans and polystyrene, which is not collected in yellow-lidded bin.

“Council’s Recycling Drop Off is a great way to not only help the environment by diverting waste from landfill, but also giving many residents moving into the Camden area a chance to clear their recycling waste,” a council spokesperson said.

“Diverting 1.2 tonnes of cardboard and 24 cubic metres of polystyrene waste over the weekend was a fantastic result for the Camden community.”

The next Recycling Drop Off will be held in early January 2022.
