The Victorian Transport Association (VTA) has announced registrations are now open for the Alternative Fuel Summit 2025, taking place on Tuesday, 18 November, at Hyatt Place, Essendon Fields.
Now in its fourth year, the Summit has become a flagship event for Australia’s freight and logistics sector, providing a vital forum for industry leaders, policymakers, regulators, and researchers to explore the future of low-emission transport.
This year’s theme – “Is the transport industry ready to decarbonise?” – reflects the growing urgency for freight operators to transition to cleaner energy sources and technologies.
The Summit comes at a pivotal time, following the Australian Government’s announcement of ambitious 2035 emissions reduction targets and increased financial support for the development of low-carbon liquid fuels. These national initiatives align with global efforts to reduce the carbon intensity of supply chains and freight networks, placing pressure on industry stakeholders to act decisively.
“Decarbonisation is no longer the distant goal it once was and is becoming an imperative in the context of national and international efforts to reduce carbon emissions,” said VTA Chief Executive Officer Peter Anderson.
“The freight and logistics industry is at the heart of Australia’s economy, and we must be at the forefront of the transition to cleaner, more sustainable operations. The Alternative Fuel Summit is about equipping operators with the knowledge, tools, and partnerships they need to make that shift.”
The Summit will feature a dynamic program of keynote presentations, panel discussions, and interactive sessions led by experts from government, academia, regulatory bodies, and industry. Topics will include the viability of alternative fuels, infrastructure readiness, regulatory frameworks, and the economic implications of decarbonisation.
Attendees will gain insights into emerging technologies, hear case studies from early adopters, and engage in robust discussions about the challenges and opportunities ahead. The event also offers valuable networking opportunities and showcases innovations in vehicle technology and fuel systems.
The event is being sponsored by long-standing sponsors CMV Truck & Bus and Viva Energy Australia.
