The new Resource Recovery Summit “Getting to 80%” will kick off the 2022 Australasian Waste & Recycling Expo (AWRE) on 24 August at Sydney’s International Convention & Exhibition Centre (ICC).

The half-day summit aims to encourage high-level collaboration between industry, government, and waste generators in tackling the National Waste Policy Action Plan’s target of 80 per cent average resource recovery rate by 2030.

Hosted by the National Waste and Recycling Industry Council (NWRIC) and the Waste Contractors & Recyclers Association of NSW (WCRA), the summit will feature keynote sessions from a range of industry leaders, followed by a networking lunch.

The sessions will address topics across three main areas: municipal solid waste, commercial and industrial, and construction and demolition.

The summit will be opened by Tony Chappel, NSW Environment Protection Authority CEO, followed by an opening keynote from Richard Kirkman, Veolia Australia and New Zealand Managing Director and CEO.

Other featured speakers will include NWRIC CEO Rick Ralph, Australian Council of Recycling CEO Suzanne Toumbourou, Alex Fraser Managing Director Peter Murphy, Breen Resources CEO Damien Vella, as well as Infrastructure Partnerships Australia CEO Adrian Dwyer.

AWRE 2022 runs from 24-25 August at Sydney’s ICC. The Resource Recovery Summit will open proceedings on the morning of 24 August.
