The Tasmanian Government is calling for Expressions of Interest in membership of the inaugural Tasmanian Waste and Resource Recovery Board.

The board is established under the Waste and Resource Recovery Act 2022 and will play a major role in advising Government on the direction for waste management, resource recovery, and the circular economy in Tasmania.

Functions of the board include to provide advice and recommendations to the minister, prepare and assess the effectiveness of a waste strategy and operational plan, promote and support resource recovery activities across the state, promote market and local infrastructure development, oversee the use of landfill levy funds, and administer assistance programs.

The board will consist of five to seven members appointed by the minister for a period of up to four years. The skills, experience and knowledge required of board members is detailed in the Act.

The EOI process closes on 1 May 2022.​​
