VIC circular economy projects receive $6.3M funding

Sustainability Victoria has been awarded a total of $6.3 million in grants for 23 projects.

Each project will aim to speed up Victoria’s transition to a circular economy.

This will mark the first round of funding from the Circular Economy Business Innovation Centre.

The 23 projects will help to identify more than 150 circular solutions to deal with approximately one million tonnes of waste. They will also reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 42,760 tonnes each year.

Twelve of the initial 23 funded projects will aim to tackle food waste. In total, these projects will implement solutions to reduce food waste by 50,280 tonnes annually.

They will also aim to develop solutions to reduce an additional 693,000 tonnes of food waste each year.

The Victorian Government has invested more than $515 million to deliver reform for the states recycling and waste sector.
