As the countdown begins to Waste Expo Australia 2025, anticipation is building for the country’s most comprehensive gathering of waste, recycling, and resource recovery professionals.

Taking place on 29-30 October at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, the event promises two days of unparalleled learning, networking, and innovation, and this year, it’s bigger than ever.

With over 140 exhibitors, 110 expert speakers from more than 10 countries, and four conference streams exploring the sector’s most pressing challenges, Waste Expo Australia has cemented its position as a must-attend event for anyone working in resource recovery, circular economy, and sustainability.

The free-to-attend event will showcase the latest technologies, solutions, and services driving efficiency and transformation across the waste and resource recovery supply chain. From recycling systems and waste-to-energy innovations to safety equipment and smart data solutions, there’s something for every organisation looking to accelerate its sustainability goals.

This year’s conference program reflects the evolving landscape of Australia’s resource recovery sector. Sessions spanning Government & Policy, Circular Economy, Waste-to-Energy and Technology & Safety will unpick the regulatory direction from all levels of government, present real-world circular economy case studies, explore the technologies enabling waste-to-energy transitions and examine how operators are lifting safety and operational performance through innovation.

Delegates can expect practical takeaways and policy insight designed to be implemented back in the workplace.

A highlight of this year’s event is the return of the Government Lounge, hosted in partnership with Sustainability Victoria, Recycling Victoria, and EPA Victoria. This dedicated space offers a unique opportunity for attendees to engage directly with key government agencies, gain clarity on new initiatives, and foster collaboration between public and private sectors.

Visitors will also encounter a diverse cross-section of suppliers showcasing practical solutions. Expect to see some big names across the expo floor, such as: Guarden, known for its range of AS-certified compostable bin liners, pet waste bags and retail-ready packaging. Guarden will outline how its products support both household and council organics collection systems. The company also highlights initiatives that reinvest revenue into habitat restoration.

Vortair will be on hand with specialist dust and fume extraction systems that improve site safety and environmental performance, while Sircel will highlight advances in e-waste processing and material recovery. Applied Machinery is set to demonstrate shredding and recycling equipment designed for efficiency at scale, and Toro Waste Equipment will display durable handling and compaction solutions tailored to councils and commercial operators. Together, these exhibitors illustrate the practical, applied innovation attendees will find across the hall.

The 2025 edition also marks an exciting first: Waste Expo Australia will be co-located with ecologiQ’s Greener Infrastructure Conference, creating the nation’s largest combined gathering of resource recovery and sustainable infrastructure experts. The pairing brings together construction, infrastructure and resource recovery communities for cross-sector dialogue on how materials, procurement and infrastructure design contribute to a circular future.

“Bringing these two events under one roof amplifies the conversation,” says Event Director Sherri Pearson. “It reflects the reality that waste, resource recovery, and infrastructure are deeply interconnected and that collaboration between sectors is essential to achieving a circular, low-carbon future.”

For businesses, local councils, and industry professionals, this is an unmissable opportunity to connect with decision-makers, explore best practices, and discover the next generation of sustainable technologies. Whether you’re looking to stay ahead of policy developments, source innovative solutions, or network with peers who are shaping the future of waste and sustainability, Waste Expo Australia offers it all and more.

With the event just around the corner, now is the time to secure your free registration and plan your visit. Don’t miss your chance to be part of the conversations, innovations, and collaborations transforming Australia’s waste and resource recovery landscape.
