Waste service changes announced for Melbourne council

Following a yearlong review of Hobsons Bay’s kerbside waste service, the council is announcing a range of changes to their service.

The changes are set to improve the council’s waste management system.

These changes will include the introduction of weekly collections for general waste. Also, a transition to food organics and garden organics collection s fortnightly.

Compostable bags for FOGO collection will also be trialled, under the new changes to the council’s waste service.

Hobsons Bay City Council will develop an implementation plan for the changes, with residents able to expect usual services until that time.

Mayor of Hobsons Bay Jonathon Marsden said the changes will help to support the increasing growth within the area.

“This change will allow Council to work towards continually improving our service, reducing landfill, reducing contamination rates while supporting our community on the need and benefits of disposing of our waste responsibly, recycling wherever possible,” Marsden said.

Updates will be released regarding the compostable bag trail and how to get involved.
