The Waste Contractors and Recyclers Association NSW & ACT (WCRA) awards held on Friday acknowledged some industry highlights from the last 12 months.
With the help of assocation’s executive director Brett Lemin and his team, it was a night of celebrations and fun. Held at the William Inglis Hotel in Warwick Farm, Sydney, Lemin entertained the crowd with his finger-picking guitar work with a game of ‘Name that Tune’ while mentalist Andy Nunn kept the audience enthralled and bewildered about how he managed to read peoples’ minds even though he claims he doesn’t.
First up was the appointment of life time membership to WCRA stalwarts James Perry and David Harrison. Both men have had a huge impact on the association and dedicated a lot of time to its members over the past few decades. Both men gave brief and humble speeches about their roles in the industry and thanks the membership for its support during their careers.
When it came to the awards themselves, there were three big awards handed out. Ethan Packer from Cleanaway Waste Management Wollongong and Karell Del Rosario from Brandstar Services jointly won with the Youth in Waste award sponsored by Resource Hub, while Org Waste and Recycling got the President’s Award, sponsored by Gallagher, for its FOGO education campaign. The Safety Award, sponsored by TWU Super, went to Bingo Industries for its Know Before You Throw campaign.
Overall, the night was a great success and lots of fun, catching up with old friends while also making new ones was had by everyone in attendance.
