WMRR webinars put spotlight on industry

The Waste Management and Resource Recovery Association of Australia (WMRR) is hosting a series of webinars to drive improvement in workplaces.

Kristy Chan, New South Wales Department of Planning, Industry and Environment Director of Regulatory Reform will start the series on August 24 with a look at the government’s Environmental Planning and Assessment Regulation 2021.

The government is working to improve the state’s planning system and is seeking feedback on proposed changes to the EP&A Regulation.

Chan will present on how the changes affect the waste management industry.

Jennifer Hughes, Senior Legal Counsel at Beatty Legal willoffer a legal perspective on the implications of the changes.

On 31 August, John Jones, Suez’s NSW Landfills Manager, and Rory San Miguel from Propeller Aero will share their experiences on lean landfill management and what innovation at sites looks like.

Joining the conversation will be Nick Simmons, Principal Technical Specialist – Landfills at Australian Environmental Auditors.

Simmons will look at PFAS concentrations of landfill leachates, with a focus on the Victorian landscape and the overall implications for discharge of leachate to sewer.

The weekly webinars are free for all WMRR members and $30 per webinar for non-members.
