WRIQ Business Breakfast

Victoria Women of WARR Leadership Breakfast

At this Business Breakfast attendees will be hearing from experts and the State Government on the economic headwinds impacting the economy.

Attendees will also gain insights into the optimistic outlook for Queensland and the programs underway to support the waste and resource recovery sector.

Topics which will be covered at the event include Economic update presented by the ANZ, the Industry Development and Queensland Recycling Modernisation Fund by State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning and MRF Standardisation by NWRIC.

Additional events will also be held following the Business Breakfast, including a presentation and workshop.

WRIQ CEO Mark Smith says the breakfast will help to encourage conversation regarding topical subjects within the waste industry.

“This event comes at an important time for the industry with the government recently announcing consultation a new regulatory strategy. The last time we saw engagement or change in this space was over 7 years ago. It’s great it is happening now. It is long overdue. ,” he said.

“We will also have an opportunity to hear direct from government on priorities related to waste data and public access to business records. These are both areas that will impact business but there hasn’t been any face-to-face engagement with industry until now.”

“Closing off the morning session will be presentations from Battery Stewardship Council on the incoming scheme they will oversee.”

The event will be run in Brisbane, but will also be live streamed into Cairns, with the support of Envirostone.

“In State as big as Queensland it’s easy to be tempted to things only in SEQ. WRIQ is committed to making sure we provide access whenever we can to the regions, and I hope this remote event trial will be a success”
