Professionals from across Australia’s waste management industry are being invited to join a WRIQ-organised study tour to one of North America’s largest industry events.

WRIQ has become an international affiliate of the US industry peak body, the National Waste and Recycling Association (NWRA), an arrangement that allows access to its programs and events.

In partnership with United States Consulate Commercial Services, WRIQ is arranging for a group from Australia to attend NWRA’s annual conference and exhibition from 6 to 9 June at the International Convention Centre in Las Vegas.

The visit will also provide exclusive tours at some of Las Vegas’ renowned waste management centres involved in organic operations, textiles recycling, and construction and demolition wastes. NWRA’s Waste Expo is the largest conference and tradeshow in North America, serving the US $85 billion solid waste, recycling and organics markets. It brings together private sector, public sector and waste management professionals from around the world.

“The state of Nevada’s waste operators and municipalities experience many parallels with Australian conditions, such as hot weather and smaller regional populations separated by distances,” said Rick Ralph, CEO of WRIQ.

“These tours will be exclusive to our attendees and will provide an important insight to the behind the scenes operations of various material generation and recycling operations that currently are not part of the Australian market or material segments.

Expressions of interest can be emailed to admin@wriq.com.au or Commercial Specialist Georgina Harrowell – Georgina.Harrowell@trade.gov – at the US Consulate in Sydney.
